Well, the new WordPress is very snazzy. Yup, snazzy.

On another note,  the browser Google Chrome has been a large hit. Well done Google!

As well and Chrome, Googles Products include -

Google Search Engine

Google Mail (Or ‘Gmail’)

Knol

Kidgle (More of a kid version of Google)

And probably much more.

So, not a long speech, but it’s an update. Bye for now.

Game Review – Civilization Revolution

leave a comment »

Review

Your aim in the long-running and well-respected Civilization is to become ruler of the world. To do so, you must choose a civilization from history, and, acting as their leader – Lincoln for America, for instance, or Mao for China – start conquering your neighbours, either through dimplomacy force of arms. It looks magnificent, plays beutifully and offers some quiet education on the side.

Verdict – 5/5

Focus, man!

leave a comment »

I have recently started exposing my interest into a magazine designed by BBC – Focus. It’s the world’s best Science and technology monthly, according to the cover. As a reader, I thought I should share it with you all.

This month’s leading article is Space Wars – Could World War III be waged on the high frontier? Q&A question’s include ‘Is time an illusion?’ and the animal fight club.

My objective in this entry is to share with the world Focus, and just tell you some of the many things that make it up.

An article I read in one issue, was Earth Without Man – what would happen to Earth without us, if we vanished overnight? Frightening, but Stephen Baxter puts it in a scientific way – without us, alien schools could have a field day on Earth. Also, who would replace us? Monkeys, rats, birds or squids? Many questions are answered there.

Also, the animal fight club was very interesting. Who would win – rhino or elephant? Killer whale or shark? Tiger or crocodile? The answers were quite surprising.

They also had the physical limits of the human body covered. And, perhaps most interesting of all – Tried and Tested. It’s a section where they pick 4 items of the same category, and review them. They had Digital SLR cameras, two-man tents and more! Also – five of the best.

My favourite would have to be the Space Wars. It asks one important question, which was mentioned earlier on. There is also Mind Control – could it be possible? A machine that can re-create the Big Bang, and the car to save the car.

Anyway, thought I would tell you all about Focus, hope you like the idea of it.

Here is their site.

Our first visit to Taybarns

with 10 comments

The Taybarns in Swansea

The Taybarns in Swansea

YES, Taybarns. It’s an ‘All you can eat’ place near our house. This is my review. I’m not a critic, honest!

When we arrived, there was a HUGE line, with at least a half hour wait. Fortunately for us, we only waited about ten minutes. So, all is well so far.

When we sat down, me and my brother gave ourselves a tour of the buffet ‘table’. And what a selection. They had a rotisserie, a carvery, desserts (gotta have desserts) yorkshire puds, nearly everything you could think of.

But, when we got the food, I though it was nice, but everyone else in Taybarns didn’t approve. They thought it rather tasteless. I failed to see this, mainly ’cause I was hungry. The desserts were empty when I had finished my second lot, so I went for three plates of meat and yorkshires, then went for my dessert.

I selected my favourite afters – ice cream. They had three toppings, chocolate buttons, smarties and the-forever-chewing jelly beans. Rather a small variety compared to some others.

What everyone else thought, I might never know. But, it was a rather new experience, and an opportunity to see continental foods, which is rather educational.

So, the ratings. Mind you, this is my opinion, you may have another one, and I respect that.

Service

The service at Taybarns wasn’t actually all that bad. There was the odd occasion when you wanted something but they didn’t have it, which could be disappointing. But, it wasn’t terrible, so…

4/5 on service. Good

Food

In my opinion, the food was excellent, there were few flaws which are too minor to mention, but others found it tasteless, so I give it,

3/5 on food. Average

Overall

+ A good place, but isn’t good enough to make you come back. The all you can eat isn’t a new thing, but it is nearby, which is easy access for us, plenty of parking spaces, it’s near a Premier Inn, which adds to visitors and diners.

- The food was never available, quite crowded, and they have sort of a wacky table setting system. The food lacked taste eventually, and there was never enough to feed the at least 300 visitors there at once.

Rating from my rate-o-meter – 3/5 Average. It’s only dining, but it’s like the new Finish ads. You deserve the best quality experience at a restaurant. Then again, as long as the food is edible, I don’t care.

Socialising Sites – gotta love ‘em

with one comment

WE’VE all done it – peaked at those socialising sites that has dominated internet users. Sites like Facebook or myspace, Flickr or Blogger. I’m alright with it, but there are a few people who are disgusted at them.

Why they are is beyond me, maybe it’s because they are the grouchiest person on the planet. Maybe it’s because they’ve nothing to do other than criticise you or the jolly folks at Facebook. There are a number of reasons. And they’re all rubbish.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with Myspace or Flickr, it’s a good way to meet new people and connect with mates. And, they’re free. Freebies are cool, I always say.

And, there’s one more thing I have to say – anyone who says Facebook is rubbish or terrible, they can moan all they like. As long as they’re not doing it, they shouldn’t bother you at all. It’s their view of it, and it’s also their opinion. ‘Let the peoples speak what they say, and say what they speak!’ is a confusing but truthful quote from a book I read once.

All in all, grouchy and moany people shouldn’t bother us happy people – it is just life for you and me.
